Chris Beran
Boys Athletic Coordinator
I've been teaching and coaching for 26 years, this being my 15th at Griffin and I am the Boy's Athletic Coordinator. Prior to coming to Frisco, I was in Little Elm at both the high school and middle school. I have coached baseball, softball, football, basketball, track, cross country and soccer. I graduated from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. I am married to my wife Christina, who is also in the district at Boals Elementary. We have one sone, Lincoln, who will be a freshman at Wakeland High School.

Michael Broughton
This will be my 10th year at Griffin, 11th year over all. I will be teaching World Cultures and Texas History as well as coaching Football, Basketball, and Track. I graduated UNT in ‘05 with B.A. in Sociology and minor in Criminal Justice. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 boys, road cycling, & woodworking.

Clinton Fortenberry
This will be my 9th year teaching PE and coaching at Griffin. Previously, I was a teacher and coach at A.C. New Middle School in Mesquite ISD for 10 years (2005-2015). I graduated from Poteet High School in 2000. In 2005, I graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.S. in Kinesiology and a minor in History. I received a Master's degree from Lamar University in 2011. I have been married to my wife Melissa since 2009. We have 2 amazing children: Grayson (11), who will be a 6th grader this year, and Harper (9) will be in 4th grade. During my time at A.C. New, I taught Texas History, AVID, Health, and PE. When I'm not working, I like to play with my kids, read, and go running.

Ryan Jordan
This will be year six teaching and coaching, and my fourth year at Griffin Middle School. I will be teaching 7th grade Texas History and coaching football, basketball, soccer, and track. I got married this summer and my wife, Aly, teaches math in Prosper ISD. I grew up playing soccer, football, and baseball, and then went on to play rugby at Abilene Christian University. I am a huge sports fan and enjoy spending my free time fishing as much as I can, hanging out with my friends and family, and playing a little rugby when I can!

Andy Rush
I am very excited to be a part of Frisco ISD. This will be my 20th year of teaching. My family and I live in Allen where my wife is a librarian and my kids my kids go to school. I am a graduate of UNT and UTD. Having taught and coached in Richardson for the past 11 years, being in Frisco feels like I'm coming home. I will be teaching PE and coaching football, basketball and track. When we are not working or at school, my family and I enjoy being outdoors playing games and going to the beach and the mountains.

Kelsey Fishbeck
Girls Athletic Coordinator
This will be my 6th year teaching and coaching at Griffin! I currently teach 6th grade Academy Connect, PE, and coach basketball and track. I previously taught science for 3 years. I graduated from Texas A&M University (whoop!) with a bachelor's in School Health. I recently graduated from Lamar University with my Master's in Teacher Leadership. When I am not teaching or coaching, I help facilitate FCA huddles. In my free time, I will be planning a wedding since I just got engaged to my fiance, Matthew! I also enjoy shopping, watching/attending any Aggie sports, crafting, and spending time with friends and family back in Salado, TX!

Kelly Howorth
This will be my 13th year teaching and 5th year at Griffin. I will be teaching Advanced Algebra 1 and coaching volleyball, basketball and track. I am so excited to get back into coaching! I previously taught math and coached volleyball, basketball and soccer in San Antonio. I graduated from the University of Houston in 2011 with a B.S in Interdisciplinary Studies focusing on 4-8 Mathematics. I am currently working on getting my masters in Curriculum and Instruction from UT Arlington. My husband and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary last fall. When I'm not coaching or teaching math, I love spending time with my nieces and nephews, reading, watching musical theater, and playing golf.

Jillian Vasquez (Fuerman)
This will be my 5th year at Griffin teaching Health & coaching. I have been with FISD for 6 years now, beginning my career teaching special education at Reedy High School. Before my teaching career, I grew up in McKinney graduating from McKinney Boyd High School. I went on to play four years of collegiate soccer while earning my degree. I began at Arkansas State University studying P.E. before transferring to Texas Woman's University where I earned my B.S. in Kinesiology while finishing my collegiate soccer career. When I am not teaching or coaching, I enjoy spending time at home with my (growing) family where there is never a dull moment with our pit and pig. We have our fur babies Finley (rescue dog) & Ziggy (mini pig) and now expecting our first child in January 2024.

Courtney Hicks
I am so excited to be returning for my third year at Griffin! I teach 8th grade science and will be coaching volleyball, cross country, and track. I graduated from The University of Alabama in 2015 with a BS in Marine Science/Biology, trained dolphins as a contractor for the Navy for a few years, and then earned my M.Ed. from Texas A&M – Commerce to become a teacher and coach. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and my puppy, traveling, watching all the sports (Roll Tide! Dallas Mavs), reading, and spending time in the sun! We are also expecting our first child, a little girl, this November!

Lauren Wagner (Secord)
I’m very excited to start my sixth year at Griffin Middle School! I will be teaching LeadWorthy and coaching volleyball, basketball, and track. This will be my 16th year to coach and 11th year in education. I also played volleyball at Dallas Baptist University and graduated from there with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling. In high school, I played volleyball, basketball, softball, and participated in track and field. I recently got married in May to my husband, Tim. My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching movies, playing sports/being active, and reading. I am passionate about making a positive impact on students’ lives and am thrilled to have this opportunity to serve at Griffin Middle School as a teacher/coach.

Derek Rodriguez
I was born and raised in San Antonio. I grew up playing many sports, but played soccer throughout high school. After high school, I attended Midwestern State University, in Wichita Falls, where I received my bachelor's in Kinesiology. After graduating, I moved to Frisco to begin my student teaching. I am now in my 13th year of teaching at Purefoy Elementary as the PE coach. This will be my 11th year coaching soccer at Griffin. My wife Tiffany and I got married in 2012. We have a 7-year-old named Ellie, a 4-year-old named Bennett, and two dogs named Abby and Leo. When I am not hanging out with them, I enjoy playing indoor soccer, riding my bike, and playing golf.
